#teacher | Mansfield man arrested by Galion Police for assault of an officer

GALION―A Mansfield man was arrested for assaulting a police officer on Tuesday at 12:05 p.m. in the Grove Avenue area.

Galion Police were called to the area on a report of a man outside in his underwear attempting to start a fight with an old man.

The man refused to follow the instructions of officers, was combative and a Taser had to be used before the man ran westbound on Grove Avenue. He was apprehended near Galion Community Hospital.

The man was arrested and taken into custody on a charge of assaulting a police officer.

1:38 a.m.-A report of a suspicious vehicle was investigated in the 500 block of Park Avenue.

10:32 a.m.-A license plate that was found by the city street department in the 700 block of Portland Way South was turned over to police.

11:04 a.m.-A message was delivered for a local doctor to a resident in the Gill Avenue area.

11:31 a.m.-A report of an unwanted person at a residence in the 200 block of North Union Street.

3:21 p.m.-A report of an unruly juvenile was investigated in the 100 block of First Avenue.

5:25 p.m.-A report of a sick raccoon was investigated in the 200 block of Erie Street.

7:03 p.m.-A domestic dispute was investigated in the 400 block of Beechwood Drive.

7:37 p.m.- Officers warned a group of people at Heise Park to stay off of the playground equipment due to the pandemic and directives from the governor.

10:30 p.m.-Officers engaged in a pursuit wit man on a motorcycle who then crashed the bike in the 300 block of East Church Street. Brian K. Lookabaugh was arrested on charges of resisting arrest, possession of drugs, tampering with evidence and a warrant for failure to appear.

10:40 p.m.-A welfare check was conducted in the 300 block of South Market Street. The person was fine.
