A Port Barre woman is facing charges after allegedly barging into a classroom at Port Barre High School and threatening a teacher.
Port Barre Police Chief Dion Boudreaux tells News15 that 33-year-old Michelle Hebert was arrested at her home following the incident Thursday at the school. Boudreaux says Hebert barged into the class and began berating the teacher, who had written up Hebert’s son for disciplinary reasons.
“She started screaming and actually got in the teacher’s personal space and used her hands to kind of trap the teacher against the wall and was making threats to do her harm,” Boudreaux says, adding that a second teacher tried to intervene by getting between Hebert and the teacher and that Hebert slapped the second teacher’s hand away.
After other faculty entered the classroom, Hebert left school grounds, according to Chief Boudreaux.
Hebert was arrested on two counts of assault on a school teacher. Boudreaux adds that she could face an additional battery charge for slapping the second teacher’s hand.
Hebert has since bonded out of the St. Landry Parish Jail.
