The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s Internet Child Exploitation unit arrested Christopher Giauque Friday with the assistance of Parkland RCMP officers. Giauque, 31, is a teacher at Spruce Grove Composite High School. The investigation into his alleged offences remains ongoing and more charges are possible, though nothing has been proven in court. Once he was arrested he was placed on leave. He will appear in court in Stony Plain Nov. 06 and PSD officials are watching the case.
“This is an alarming matter and Parkland School Division is taking it very seriously,” board chair Lorraine Stewart said in a statement on the news. “As this involves an ongoing RCMP investigation we are not at liberty to discuss any further.”
Giauque’s staff profile on the school website no longer exists as of today. He has been released from custody on a number of court-imposed conditions, including to not be in the company of anyone under the age of 16 without supervision. Anyone with information about the case is urged to come forward to police or to leave tips through cybertip.ca.
