The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is calling on Tamanawis Secondary School students who witnessed a deadly fight in the school parking lot on Tuesday to come forward with information.
On Wednesday, IHIT’s Sgt. Timothy Pierotti said there many students in the area just after noon when a fight broke out between 18-year-old Mehakpreet Sethi and a 17-year-old boy that ended with Sethi being stabbed.
Pierotti said police attempted to save Sethi, who died shortly after.
The 17-year-old was identified by witnesses and arrested.
“At this time, it is believed that the suspect and the victim were known to each other and that this was an isolated incident, not believed to be associated to the Lower Mainland gang conflict,” Pierotti said.
“We know there were many students in the area around the time this tragedy took place. If you or one of your loved ones has information that could help shed light on why this young man was killed, please contact IHIT immediately.”
