MOORHEAD — A teenager was shot at a party here early Saturday, Sept. 19, and police are asking for public help in finding the suspect.

At roughly 12:52 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Fifth Street South for a report of a noisy party. As officers responded to the call, there was a report of a shooting at the same location, a release from the department said.

As officers arrived, numerous people were running from the scene. A number of college students were stopped and a victim with a gunshot wound to the leg was found. One of the officers with specialized training in gunshot wounds rendered aid. The victim, a 19-year-old man from Nebraska, was taken to Essentia Hospital.

The suspect is described as a Black or Hispanic man with dreadlocks to his shoulders and a pencil-thin mustache, police said. He was with several other men, all of whom were wearing black Adidas clothing.

Police are seeking additional information from anyone who may have been at the scene and have more information regarding the suspects or any vehicles which may have left the area. The department asked anyone who attended the party to look at any photos they may have taken to see if the suspect or his friends are pictured. Anyone who can provide assistance is asked to call the Red River Valley Dispatch Center at 701-451-7660 and ask to speak with the supervisor.
