Lestrolowitz has a daughter from his first marriage, Esther Hacham, who lives in Herzliya, and he has granddaughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Strolowicz, a Holocaust survivor and partisan, was born in Kosina, Czechoslovakia and spent the Holocaust in Hungary. He was in a labor camp called Bor in Yugoslavia and after fleeing it joined Tito’s partisan fighters. After the war he returned home and reunited with his younger brother and two older sisters who remained from the ten-year-old family. At the end of 1946 he moved to Germany and served for a time in the Bergen-Belsen DP camp, where he engaged in public activities. In 1948 he immigrated to Israel and was drafted into the IDF, where he served in many different positions and in his last position was a major in the School of Command and Staff. He was discharged from the army in 1970. In 1965, Strolowitz moved to Herzliya and after graduating from the army, in 1971, he was hired as director of the supervision department. As an IDF retiree, he was a member of the secretariat of a staff organization – the IDF Retirees’ Organization.

Strolowitz was one of the founders of the College for Retirees and has been an active volunteer for more than 20 years within the framework of ALA (Association for the Elderly) Herzliya. He was one of the senior members of the association’s management and served as a representative of its physical activity. The last thing I was. He believes that he will go. He was much younger in spirit than people who are physically 20 years younger than him. He was generally healthy and had a solid opinion on most things and a fascinating conversationalist. He volunteered for years for the ALA for the Elderly and coordinated sports activities. “She, who surrounded dozens of gymnastics groups for seniors. He was also a board member of the association. He would come to hear lectures from the Retirement College and would give up lectures to go take care of sports affairs at the municipality.”

“Yehuda was married to Yehudit for 55 years and her daughter Esther Hayut was in pain,” says Yossi Golan, a childhood friend of Hayut, director of the Raanana Residents’ Forum and a social activist. “I have known him for at least 50 years. ‘Umbra’ for men’s clothing in Sokolov 59 in the 90s-80s. He was a charming and loving man. He was clear until the last minute, he had a thunderous voice, a rolling laugh and an impressive handshake despite his age. “In one of his morning marches about a month ago he got dizzy, fell and broke three ribs and received a blow to the neck. He was hospitalized at Beilinson Hospital where he contracted corona. He fought Corona for almost a month. He was a strong man and Corona defeated him in the end.”
