Austin (KXAN) — A family of a 25-year-old man who died injured after a shooting on 6th Avenue in downtown Austin says he is married to a high school lover.

Douglas John Cantor, 25, was injured and died at Austin Hospital at 12:01 pm on Sunday, police said.

Kantor’s family said he was taken to the Dell Seton Medical Center.

“He was shot straight into the abdomen just below the chest,” said Canton’s brother Nick Canton. “He was suffering from the time of injury to the time of death, which was the most horrifying thing I could think I could hope for someone. It’s hard to talk, but the general public is my brother. I think it’s worth knowing what he suffered. “

The shooting injured at least 14 people in 400 blocks on East 6th Street early Saturday morning. Police say one boy suspect has been detained. There are still many other suspects.

During the briefing, Interim Police Chief Joseph Chacon said that 11 people were treated in one hospital, one went to another hospital, another victim was treated in an emergency room, and another. Said he ran from Austin’s bustling bar on 6th Avenue.

Chacon said at a press conference on Saturday that most of the victims were innocent bystanders.

Anyone who has information or video about what happened will be asked to call the APD murder at 512-974-TIPS.
