A MAN is due to appear in court for trial after allegedly assaulting a former teacher on Portland.
It was reported that at around 10.30am on Saturday, May 29 a man aged in his 60s was assaulted outside The Paper Shop on Fortuneswell.

Weymouth Magistrates Court heard how the victim, who is a former teacher, suffered serious injuries including a collapsed lung, and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Paul Daniel Davie, aged 40, of Castle Court, Mulberry Avenue, Portland, pleaded not guilty to unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm upon Stewart Johnstone.
Davie was given unconditional bail until his trial date at Weymouth Magistrates Court on April 25 next year.
