Two men charged with use of internet for crimes against children

GILBETIn separate cases, local law enforcement has charged one man with attempting to meet a local 12 year old girl for sex and another man for images of child pornography.
Detective Brett Morrison with the Murray County Sheriff’s Office said that 19 year Aaron Gilbert of Highway 225 North, Chatsworth is charged with criminal attempt to commit child molestation.
“He was talking to a 12 year old girl on Facebook about having sex with him,” Morrison said. “Her parents found the conversations on her phone and reported them. I assumed the victim’s identity and set up a meeting. He went there expecting to meet the girl. He denied ever having met anyone else underage for the sexual purposes.”
In another case, Johnathon Thomas Patterson, of Will Evans Road, Chatsworth  was charged with three counts of sexual exploitation of children.
“It was a lead that came through the GBI,” Morrison said. “We served a warrant for his computer and phone and found numerous images of child pornography.”
Morrison said that social media sites and app developers are getting more involved in reporting such images.
