TUSCALOOSA, AL– The University of Alabama’s Division of Student Life, Center for Service and Leadership and the Office of Student Care and Wellbeing are partnering to compete in the first-ever SEC Food Fight.
The competitive donation drive pits UA against other universities in the Southeastern Conference to see which school can collect the most donations for their school’s food pantries.
The week-long competition takes place April 5-11.
The Office of Student Care and Wellbeing operates the University’s food pantry to support students in need.
The competition began as a creative, fun way to address food insecurity in higher education.
“This donation drive will help the UA food pantry continue its critical work and to expand its offerings,” said Center for Service and Leadership Assistant Director Zoë Winston.
To help UA bring home the victory, students are asked to create a crowdfunding page on BamaPulse that raises awareness about food insecurity and raises money for the UA food pantry.
Additionally, anyone else who would like to help can make monetary donations directly to UA’s food pantry through BamaPulse.
