A UofL student is recovering in a hospital after being shot in south Louisville. Shortly after midnight on Saturday, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2900 block of South Third Street, which is located near the University of Louisville campus. According to Louisville Metro police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley, when officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman outside who had been shot.Smiley said the victim was conscious, alert, and talking while being taken to a local hospital with what appears to be a non-life-threatening injury.A UofL spokesperson later confirmed that the woman injured was a student attending a party at a house near Central Avenue.They said that, according to witnesses, at about 1 a.m. several people were asked to leave when a fight broke out and shots were fired.One of those gunshots struck the victim.The assailants reportedly fled the scene. Detectives from LMPD’s Fourth Division are investigating the shooting.Anyone with information is urged to call the anonymous Crime Tip Line at 502-574-LMPD.
