Authorities are looking for a 20-year-old man suspected of firing a gun at a sheriff’s deputy outside a grocery shop in Union Grove.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Office says shots were fired in the parking lot of a Piggly Wiggly on Sunday afternoon when deputies approached a man who had reportedly abducted a woman at gunpoint from a nearby rehabilitation center.

The suspect was identified as Stantavious Armond Sillas, and the sheriff’s office says the man left the lady unharmed in the parking lot and fled.

The retailer was on lockdown for two hours as authorities searched for the suspect.

Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling issued a warning Sunday evening, asking Union Grove residents to lock their residences and stay indoors. Union Grove High School administrators decided to cancel classes and after school activities Monday simply because of the scenario, and there have been reports of other schools closing, as properly.

He says the suspect is deemed armed and hazardous.
