Viral Arby’s Tik Tok from Naples teen isn’t all it seems | #socialmedia | #children

NAPLES, Fla. – A video posted by a Naples teen has 3.4 million likes on the popular social media platform Tik Tok and more than 70,000 shares.

In the video, the user named John claimed someone sold him a flat screen TV. When he plugged it in, he said an Arby’s 2 for $5.00 ad popped up.

A PR agency from Atlanta sent NBC2 a release about the video. They also sent us photos showing a banner plane flying over a beach in Naples saying “Hey @H1T1 we want our TV back – Arby’s.”

The teens father said his son uploaded the Arby’s photos onto a TV screen a a joke, creating a Tik Tok that quickly took off with attention.

A spokesperson for Arby’s confirmed the company coordinated the plane to fly over Naples. We asked them if they knew the story behind the viral Tik Tok video was made up and they didn’t answer us. Arby’s just said they planned to continue the back and forth with the teen over social media.
