Maggie Houts with parks and recreation said there were 16 teams participating in the competition. The teams set up on Friday and started smoking their meat because it takes about 24 hours to get it ready for the judges. The teams were judged on their chicken, pork and beef and were competing for the grand prize of $1,000.
The 2020 Grand Champion for the BBQ Bash was Big B’s BBQ.

Other activities at the BBQ Bash included food trucks, live music, a cornhole tournament and a hay bale maze. There was also a Great Giant Pumpkin carving by artist Olasubomi Bashorun, the 2020 Riverfest Juried Art Show winner.
Extra precautions were taken to ensure the event was safe for those attending. Cloth face coverings were required by participants and patrons if social distancing could not be maintained. Anyone handling food was also required to wear disposable gloves and sanitation stations were available throughout the event.
