A WOMAN, 38, has been arrested for her alleged involvement in the death of a retired teacher for his money.
The man died in February 2020 in Logroño, and following an investigation, the woman was arrested by National Police from La Rioja while she was on a bus from Madrid to Logroño.
The woman, who is one of two people suspected in participating in the death of the teacher, has been remanded in prison.
The other suspect is a man, her boyfriend, who also had ties to the victim through the detainee for several years and is believed to have killed the teacher following the woman’s plans.
The police determined that the manslaughter had been committed over money, as the detainee was charged in 2019 for defrauding the victim of approximately €60,000.
The crime was committed in the victim’s home just days before the hearing for this case was due to be held.
Two days later, the man left Logroño despite having a stable life there, and moved to Madrid. He was visited there by the woman before leaving for another country where he is believe to be now. She also visited him there.
The detainee had been living in Madrid for several months and was under surveillance by the police. She was arrested in Burgos while she was on a bus travelling to Logroño to go to court for another matter.
She has a criminal record for crimes of fraud, receiving stolen goods and document falsification in Madrid in 2003 and in 2017 she was arrested in Logroño for extortion, fraud and illegal association, all committed with the knowledge of members of her family. She would allegedly target elderly people to get their money.
